Welcome
I'm Dr. Alessia Saini, a psychologist and psychotherapist practicing in Milan, offering both in-person and online therapy sessions. My journey in psychology has taken me across Europe—from training in England to specializing in Italy and Austria—and this international experience has shaped my approach to mental health care.
I believe therapy should be a space where you can truly be yourself. A place where you can gather your thoughts, breathe deeply, and focus on what matters most to you. Whether you're navigating a difficult period, seeking to understand yourself better, or working to build healthier relationships, I'm here to support you with professionalism, empathy, and evidence-based expertise.

My Approach: Evidence-Based, Person-Centered
At the heart of my practice is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), the gold standard in psychotherapy recognized internationally for its solid empirical foundation. CBT is included in major clinical guidelines because it works—it provides practical, measurable results.
But therapy is never one-size-fits-all. While I specialize in CBT, my international training has equipped me to draw from various therapeutic approaches to create a treatment plan that's truly tailored to you. We'll work together on two levels:
Practical symptom management: Using concrete techniques and strategies to address your immediate concerns—whether that's anxiety, stress, low mood, or other challenges affecting your daily life.
Deeper understanding: Exploring the underlying thoughts, feelings, and behavioral patterns that contribute to your difficulties, helping you develop lasting insight and change.
I also offer EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a specialized approach particularly effective for processing traumatic experiences and disturbing memories that continue to impact your present life.
Additionally, I integrate individual and group yoga sessions as a complementary approach to traditional psychotherapy, recognizing the profound connection between mind and body in the healing process.
My Training & Professional Background
My journey in psychology began in England, where I received my initial training and developed a strong foundation in evidence-based practices. This experience exposed me to the rigorous standards and innovative approaches of the British psychological tradition.
I then continued my specialization in Italy and Austria, earning advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and EMDR. This diverse educational path has given me a unique perspective, combining different therapeutic traditions and allowing me to offer a truly international standard of care.
Throughout my career, I've gained extensive clinical experience working with a wide range of mental health concerns, always staying current with the latest research and therapeutic developments in the field. My commitment to ongoing professional development ensures that you receive care based on the most current scientific evidence.
How We Work Together
Therapy is a collaborative journey. From our very first meeting, we'll work as partners in your healing and growth. Here's what you can expect:
Initial consultation:
We'll take time to understand your concerns, your goals, and what you hope to achieve through therapy. This is also an opportunity for you to see if we're a good fit—finding the right therapist is essential.
Personalized treatment plan:
Based on your unique situation, we'll develop a tailored approach that addresses both immediate symptoms and deeper patterns. You'll always be involved in decisions about your treatment.
Active, practical work:
Therapy isn't just talk. We'll develop concrete strategies and tools you can use in your daily life. Between sessions, you may have exercises or reflections to practice, helping you build new skills and insights.
Regular progress review:
We'll check in on how things are going, adjusting our approach as needed. Your feedback is crucial—if something isn't working, we'll change it.
A safe, non-judgmental space:
Above all, our sessions are your time. You can express yourself freely, explore difficult emotions, and work through challenges without fear of judgment.
Confidentiality and privacy:
Everything you share in our sessions is strictly confidential. I adhere to professional ethical guidelines and Italian privacy laws (GDPR), ensuring that your personal information and our conversations remain protected.
Fees & Practical Information
I believe in transparency about costs from the beginning. My fee structure is straightforward:
€70 per session
This fee applies to both in-person sessions and online sessions via secure video conferencing.
Each session typically lasts 50 minutes. The frequency of sessions is tailored to your needs—some clients benefit from weekly sessions, while others may prefer bi-weekly meetings. We'll discuss what works best for your situation and goals during our initial consultation.
I do not offer package deals because I believe therapy should be flexible and responsive to your evolving needs. You're never locked into a predetermined number of sessions. We'll work together for as long as it's beneficial, and you're free to conclude therapy whenever you feel ready.
Payment: Fees are payable at the end of each session. I accept cash and bank transfer. As a licensed psychologist, I provide receipts that may be tax-deductible as medical expenses under Italian law.
Cancellation policy: Life happens, and I understand that sometimes you may need to reschedule. I ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. This allows me to offer the time slot to others who may need it.
